October 9 and 10, 2010
Weekend Sewing Retreat featuring Debbie Glenn of Love and Stitches |
|
I am extremely pleased to announce that on October 9 & 10, 2010 (Saturday and Sunday) Debbie Glenn of Love and Stitches will be conducting a full two day class teaching some of her unique machine methods for high relief embroidery and scalloped edgings using conventional zigzag stitches. Debbie Glenn is a designer, author, and teacher who specializes in fine machine and heirloom sewing, recreating handwork by machine, plus applique and smocking. Debbie travels extensively across the country and internationally teaching for shops, private sewing groups and SAGA (Smocking Arts Guild of America). See Debbie's project photos on her website at http://www.loveandstitches.com
Where: Holiday Inn Express (meeting room) 309 East Main Street, Branford, CT When: Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10, 2010 Class fee: $495.00 . This will include 2 full days of teaching by Debbie Glenn, your kit, lunch for both days and snacks. Also included will be Debbie's trunk show and reception. Class size is limited to 20 students, so sign up early. A $100.00 deposit is required to hold your spot. The class fee does not include lodging however a block of rooms has been put aside for this event. Project: French Boudoir Pillow. This pillow won blue ribbons and Viewers Choice Award at the recent SAGA convention. Special nostalgic touches on this sweet rectangular pillow include a mock placket featuring satin stitched scallops, one thread release tucks, an overcast satin stitched lace trimmed edge, and a machine feather stitched closure using Floche. Of course, as with all things vintage, it's sprinkled with delicate floral hand embroidery (pin wheel roses covered in class). The best news is that using Debbie's unique techniques it's actually possible to recreate all but the sprinkles of embroidery by machine....producing a fabulous French boudoir pillow that truly looks handmade! |
